Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This policy covers the PocketSheets iPhone app and this website, operated by Andrew Tanchuk. For privacy questions, contact andrew.dsgnr@gmail.com.

Information the app accesses

Why Google access is requested

Google account access connects you to your own sheets. File access uses the drive.file permission and is limited to files you authorize for PocketSheets. The app does not request access to all files in your Google Drive.

PocketSheets uses this access to read your selected spreadsheets and, when you have editing permission, save cell edits and add, delete, or reorder rows. These actions change the original spreadsheet in Google Sheets and may affect other people who use it. The app does not create or delete entire spreadsheet files.

To help match edits to the correct records, the app can add hidden row and column identifiers to a spreadsheet when you open an editable record, even before you save a cell change. These identifiers are stored as Google Sheets metadata and do not change the visible cell values. Removing a sheet from the app or disconnecting does not remove this metadata from Google Sheets.

Google user data is used to provide the app’s visible browsing, editing, and synchronization features. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models. PocketSheets follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, for data received from Google APIs.

Storage and security

Saved spreadsheet contents and display preferences are stored locally on your device. Google file access credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain with device-only protection. Google Sign-In manages its own sign-in session on the device.

Saved field edits can remain on your device while offline and sync when a connection is available and the app is running or reopened. Recovery information helps the app check interrupted changes and show conflicts for review. Sync does not continue while the app is force-quit. Text you have not submitted with Save is not guaranteed to survive closing or restarting the app.

The app communicates directly with Google over HTTPS. PocketSheets does not operate a server that receives your spreadsheet contents or Google authorization tokens. Locally saved app data may be included in backups managed by Apple, depending on your device settings.

Sharing and other services

Google provides sign-in, file selection, and spreadsheet access under Google’s Privacy Policy. The app does not include advertising, analytics, or AI services that receive your spreadsheet contents, and the developer cannot browse your sheets through the app.

If you choose Share Draft, the draft text is passed to the app or recipient you select through the iOS share sheet. That destination handles the shared information under its own privacy practices.

If you contact support, your email address and the information you choose to send are processed to respond to your request. Avoid including sensitive spreadsheet contents. Support correspondence may be retained to resolve and follow up on your request; you can ask for its deletion by email, subject to any applicable legal retention duties.

Retention, removal, and revoking access

Cached sheets remain on the device until you remove them or disconnect the account. Pending changes and their recovery information are kept until resolved, discarded, or cleared with the local sheet or account. We do not hold a separate server copy of your spreadsheet data to delete. Email the contact above for help or to request deletion of support information you have sent us.

This website

This website is hosted on Vercel. Requests to the website may be processed with technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time to deliver and secure the site. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy. This website does not request Google sign-in, access your spreadsheets, or install advertising or analytics trackers.

Legal bases and your rights

Where European Economic Area or UK data protection law applies, Andrew Tanchuk is responsible for the personal data processed to provide PocketSheets and handle support. We process data needed to provide the app and support you request to perform our agreement with you. We rely on our legitimate interests to respond to other inquiries and keep the website secure and available, and on legal obligations where we must retain information. Where processing requires consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a portable copy of personal data we hold, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact the email above to exercise these rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. For spreadsheet data we do not hold, use the app’s removal controls or manage the original files in Google Sheets.

Google, Apple, Vercel, and the email services used for support may process information outside your country. Their privacy notices explain their processing and international safeguards. See the Google and Vercel links above and Apple’s Privacy Policy. Contact us for information about support correspondence.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the app’s data practices change and revise the date above. Before using Google user data in a new way or for a different purpose from what was disclosed, we will notify you and ask for consent. If a future feature needs additional Google permissions, the app will ask for your authorization before using them.
